These suggestions are all places we have been to and things we have done. And they're shared with vegetarian, healthy lifestyle, and dog owning travelers in mind. Enjoy!
Woodstock, New York
Woodstock, New York is a small town in the Catskill Mountains. It's got a laid back, hippie vibe, as it was where the original Woodstock Festival was supposed to take place (before it got moved to Bethel, New York).
Grab coffee and a pastry at Bread Alone Bakery. Bread Alone is local to Upstate New York, with locations in Boiceville, Rhinebeck, and Woodstock, and are a big supporter of local farms. The chocolate hazelnut and morning glory muffins are especially tasty, and if you're looking for something more substantial, their breakfast menu also includes egg sandwiches, oatmeal, and breakfast plates.
Just a fifteen minute drive from Woodstock is Kenneth Wilson State Park, which houses a campground and a great walking trail. Though just .8 miles long, this trail makes you feel really far away from the world and gives you just enough exercise to feel like you've gotten out and hiked that day.
Oriole 9 is a great place with all of your classic brunch dishes, but because they also own a farm, many of the foods are grown locally. The space is bright and cheery, the service is great, and be sure to check the specials menu.
After brunch, if you have some time, walk around Woodstock to explore the shops. There are lots of great little galleries, shops selling hippie clothes, and used book stores that are fun to wander.
